We are at Grand Cayman today. We arrived at about 11 AM and were supposed to be here at about 8 AM. The pod problem obviously delayed us longer then expected.
First I had better mention that we are on the Regent Mariner doing a cruise around South America for about 60 days. We have our granddaughter’s Bat Mitzvah in April and a nephews wedding in May, so we could not do a four month around the world cruise this year. I thought everyone had known this but I had a few inquiries.
There are no docks in Grand Cayman so everyone floats and maneuvers around and tenders in. I guess they maneuver rather then anchor so they don’t swing into one another and also to keep the ships tender dock to the leeward side of the ship.
Today is Sunday. On Sunday most of the shops are closed. We have been here around a hundred times and decided not to tender in as there would really be nothing to do. We just sat on the balcony and watched what was going on. This evening we were invited to a Virtuoso cocktail party. They are a travel organization that some travel agencies belong to by invitation only and they are sponsored by some of the luxury cruise lines and hotel chains. They give customers of those hotels and ships free services. In our case, we have had many very nice and classy tours with fine lunches, dinners and entertainment that the others aboard do not get. They have many of these cocktail parties throughout the cruise. This time almost all the ships officers and managers attended including the captain.
At the cocktail party another couple, the Finches, asked us to join them for dinner. We had an excellent blabbing to each other. Tonight’s entertainment was a comedian ventriloquist. This guy was really good. It was a Vegas quality act.
As you may have guessed, I am having trouble sending pictures. AOL refuses to send pictures even as an attachment. Yahoo will send a maximum of five but has problems with the ships system and keeps disconnecting. Yesterday it said it did not send and then after I re sent, it sent the same thing a second time. So I will try to send the text by AOL and the pictures only, by Yahoo. Please only write to us at AOL, as before. Much of my Yahoo mail gets tossed out here.
